Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) seeks to provide sustainable solutions to long-term problems of poverty, hunger, illiteracy, and ill health.

In Afghanistan, AKF works with rural communities in mountainous, remote or resource poor areas to improve the quality of life in the areas of natural resource management, market development, governance, education and health.


Position Objective: The Area Officer, Education (AOE) is a member of the education team based at the district level. In cooperation with ASOE), the AOE manages AKF education programs in his/her respective districts in accordance with AKF policy, education program directives and yearly work plans.


The AOE is responsible for planning, budgeting, implementing, monitoring, evaluating, and reporting AKF education programs in the districts. He/She must spend 40% of their work time on admin/logistic activities and 60% on technical support to DTEEs. The AOE works in close cooperation with the District Education Department (DED) and collaborates with other AKDN sectors and INGOs/NGOs at the district level.
